iOS 5 beta 4 released: over the air software update is now possible

Apple has released iOS 5 beta 4. For the first time over the air software update is now possible:

iOS 5 beta 4 can be installed using over the air software update from devices that have iOS 5 beta 3 installed. Over the air software update can be initiated by choosing General > Software Update in Settings.

Some points of note:

  1. You need to have iOS 5 beta 3 installed. If you are running an earlier version (iOS 5 beta 2 and iOS 5 beta 1) you will need to install iOS 5 beta 3 the "traditional" way using iTunes. Step-by-step instructions on how to install iOS 5 using iTunes is available.
  2. You need to be a registered Apple iOS Developer
  3. The over the air update is a delta update and only 'weighs' 133MB – a fraction of the size of the full image download.
